Request a crawl space visit
If water is standing under the house or a floor feels like it's giving way, call. For a musty smell, a home sale or planning ahead, a request works fine and a local company will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the request goes to a company that covers it
- What you've noticed: smell, standing water, sagging floors, wet insulation
- Whether a CL-100 or home inspection flagged moisture or damage
- If you're buying or selling, your closing or due diligence date
- Whether the crawl space has an access door you can open, and roughly how much room there is
Water under the house after a storm? Don't go into a flooded crawl space near wiring, a furnace or a water heater. Turn off power to the crawl space at the breaker if you can do it safely, and wait for a professional.
